Merry Christmas 2012 everyone and have a safe and wonderful 2013!

A little gift to all you Harry Potter fans

I'm exhausted!
Awhile back this watercolour    had been rejected by a particular group-that-shall-not-be-named. So I thought Ok,  and asked for the reason. In the reply that I can't remember fully, "texture" came up. In my mind,  I had known the picture wasn't finished, therefore I hadn't done the best that I could. So I went back to the image and made it better. I then submitted this to the group. It was rejected. This time I didn't ask for the reason, instead I thought never mind. Who cares I like it the way it is! I later sold that artwork for $300 in an exhibition. :)

Then now, this   has just been rejected from the very same group. So in the spirit of getting feedback I wrote back asking what improvements I should make? I get back this answer by an artist who is a hobbyist in digital art (Looking at this mod's DA profile, she seems to have a thing for texture it seems).

"Sorry ... your drawing is nice but should be better textured and nuanced. Looking at our gallery, you'll see that the submissions we accept are highly textured."

Compare it to this one of mine which WAS excepted by the very same group (probably by a different mod) has the exact same style. (I do suspect if this mod rejecter had the power to approve this she'd reject it as well)

I do agree that they need to be better nuanced... I get lazy and impatient, and it's a weakness I need to get over, but texture? It's my style with watercolour I think. I think that even though my backgrounds are simple they're still textured, but in no means is my background meant to detract from the subject matter I'm trying to portray in these images.

Even though I have had training in the art area, I'm pretty much self taught with watercolours, and I've tried looking around for good tutorials on DA over the years, but if anyone knows of any tutorials done by professionals and teachers on DA or on the net, please let me know. So I can get my "texture" right, but also I want some good new techniques to experiment with.

Thank you.
Are there any good Game of thornes/ASOIAF forums?
Thanks.....

Thanks a million.

Hello all,

I just want to showcase some amazing Hermione Granger portraits and interpretations of the Harry Potter character.

Some truly embody her spirit, others and funky and slightly dorky, and while some show the power to overcome evil and fight the baddies.

Have a look...

If you've got a fave Hermione drawing, please share.
I still can't believe Pottermore rejected this artwork of mine. WTF Pottermore, WTF?

This is the warning/rejection letter I got last week:

Hi QueenJinx40,

While we're pleased to see you making the most of Pottermore, you should be aware that a recent drawing you uploaded of Harry Potter has been removed because it does not follow our moderation guidelines.

We encourage you to read them here Terms & Conditions.
Unfortunately, we cannot enter into correspondence regarding individual decisions.
And please ensure that in future, all of your contributions follow our site guidelines.

Thank you,

The end....

I've gotten my HPDH2 dvd and it's really hit home that it's the end of the HP series.... :( I wish JKR would make another series, not of Harry of course but maybe Albus Severus or another character. Oh how I wish...

Anyway, was anyone else dissapointed at the dvd extras? I thought there should've been more material for the extras, since it was the final movie and all. Or is there more extras on BluRay?

OH HARRY COME BACKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!
I'm a Slytherin now... surprise, surpise. I wanted Ravenclaw so bad, I ended up in Slytherin, haha.

And I'm loving my new house and I love my new wand of Hawthorn and Unicorn hair, it's more me, I think.

The thing about the Sorting Hat in the books, which JKR does not allow for us Muggles to do, is that the characters end up choosing or help the hat to decide which house they truly want to be in. Well, except with Neville who felt intimidated by the hat into joining Gryffindor instead of Hufflepuff. Hermione and McGonagall both had choices steering the hat towards Gryffindor instead of Ravenclaw... and need I say more about Harry Potter's decision to go to Gryffindor?

So I feel that if I had a choice with the Sorting Hat in Pottermore, I would have chosen Ravenclaw over Hufflepuff.

But this obviously can't happen, otherwise Pottermore Hufflepuffs would be so few in number due to people being so dissapointed in the house.

The house itself has great values, and I really liked the welcoming letter, however I just wish that JKR could've made Hufflepuff seem more cooler in the books.

Anyways my new name on Pottermore is:

QueenJinx40

Add me lovelies. Let me know what your name is as well, so I can add your nickname.
I'm a beta on Pottermore, and unfortunetely I ended up in Hufflepuff, which isn't my first choice of house. (Love Ravenclaw)

It's been fun so far, but there are a number of annoying factors on the site and I wish there was a lot of social interaction.

Anyone on Pottermore?
I want to buy a new computer.

I've decided on a laptop, not a mac.

But I need help....

I need one which has great processing spedd/ and at least 1 gig graphics. Reason for this is because when I'm working on drawings I tend to have several programs and broswer tabs up all at once.

I want one with a good screen, good features.

Any ideas on which one I should get?
